Barmby Moor Parish Council

Welcome to the Barmby Moor Parish Council website.

Barmby Moor is a popular residential village, close to the market town of Pocklington and has bus services to York, Hull and Beverley.  According to the 2011 UK census, Barmby Moor parish had a population of 1,114.

The village dates from the 11th century and at one time had its own market with a coaching inn (Barmby Moor House - now a private residence). It has a church (St Catherine's, first built in the 15 century), a Methodist chapel, village hall, primary school, post office and a pub (The Boot & Slipper). The church and Manor House (built in 1597 and where the author Lewis Carol once stayed) are designated as Grade II* listed, while the former coaching inn and several other buildings are Grade II listed. Further details of the village's fascinating history can be found here.

Each July, a traditional fete - the Barmby Feast - is held in the village.

The village is fortunate in having access to FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) high speed broadband, allowing download speeds of over 70 mbps.
